I get the most wonderful letters from adopters! Many times I pass them on to
the previous owner of the dog so they may enjoy them as well and know that their dog has
received a good home. I think everyone who is a part of PRH should be able to
enjoy these letters so I decided to make a "Letters From Home" page. This is the
best warm fuzzy feeling Thank You I can think of offering to our sponsors, our
volunteers, our adopters and our families. Enjoy, and happy reading!
| Pepsi's First Day Home! Pepsi seems
to be settling in well. He isn't so sure about the back yard
just yet but he's fairly comfortable with most everything else - especially
his new bed (attached photo).
Thanks again.

We're making progress. Pepsi and Buzz
hung out together for awhile last night and again this morning. This
morning Buzz was outside waiting with a toy in his mouth. When I opened
the door Pepsi, ran outside with a spring in his steps. However, when
Buzz turned around Pepsi did too and ran back in the house. Oh well,
maybe next time. We're going to work on Sky and Pepsi tonight with
muzzles on. Mostly for his safety than Sky's.
Pepsi has found his voice. It arrived
some time around 4:30 this morning when he wanted to go out. Before going
back to his bed he retrieved a bone from one of the other rooms. It's in
his crate along with his squeaky frog, blanket and a partially eaten
rawhide chew. The rawhide is making Sky insane. She is willing to finish
it off for him if we would only give it to her. Thanks for the info on
his food intake. He would be a chow hound if we let him. I've split his
feeding in two. He becomes very animated when he hears the food go into
the bowl. I swear he was dancing on his toes this morning.
We sent an email to Bahama Mama kennels
and heard back yesterday. Donna gave us some background on Pepsi, mostly
about his litter and his temperament. She also asked for updates from
time to time which we think is great. We were concerned about being a
nuisance. Feel free to tell us if we're being an annoyance. We're just
really excited about having him as a part of our family. Oh, we took him
to PetSmart on Sunday and sure enough a woman said "Hey, look at the Great
Dane!"

Hey Kimberly,
We just wanted to let you guys know that Odie and
Bella are adjusting well to one another. Odie is quite the character and we
have had our hands full with him
J
We love him to death though!! He is a silly
little man and is always stealing or getting into something. He is
definitely a character to watch. He is a momma’s boy and has really hooked
himself to my mom. She loves it. He follows her
EVERYWHERE. He is a Petsmart addict, just like Bella.
Quite the sight to see them both in the beamer.
Too cute to see them together. They are really loved and we want to
thank you for sending those two babies our way!!!

addition to the family! They adopted Bella {Patriot} last fall)

Hi Kimberly -thanks for checking in :)
So far all is well. Snuggles visited the vet Monday and checked out fine.
She has learned how to walk on the leash and loves flexing her legs. If we
cut our walks short -she gets almost indignant. Each time we go out, people
have to stop and we talk at length about your organization and greyhounds in
general. Snuggles believes she should be patted by everything on 2 legs.
She seems to like the cats -and not as a snack. The striped male -Max, has
taken to rubbing against her legs and cleaning her as if she were another
cat. Jack just looks at her and leaves her alone.
The kids had to show her off one day last week at school because no one
would believe we had a greyhound. Snuggles took it in stride and again,
loved the attention. Her coloring has what a lot folks oooing and ahhing.
On our way back to Columbia we had bad rain and traffic. She settled down
and was fine. Prior to arriving home, we stopped and got her a crate and
pad -next day got her another pad for an even puffy bed. She helped herself
to my step daughter's Sheltie's toys. The hedgehog is her favorite.
No pictures yet. The ones we took were very dark. We need to try againMy son has science project pictures taking up most the memory. Once that is
cleared, pictures should be forth coming.
All in all, OK so far. In the next few weeks, we are going to start basic
manners -sit, down, stay and move. She likes to be in the kitchen
-specifically in front of the fridge, and move really needs to be taught.
She learns incredibly fast. She should have everything mastered in no time.
Was pleased to see pictures of new arrivals -they look great. I'll be
honest though -I think Snuggles looks the best :)
More news soon.Follow - up 6-20-03
Hi from Snuggles in Columbia SC -
We've had Snuggles since 2/03. She is a joy!!!!! She loves her walks!
From 8pm on, she keeps poking me with her nose till we go for it!!!! She
likes the cats and wants to "make friends". The best thing about the cats
as far as she is concerned is their food is available all the time. So,
we're learning. She has eatten 2 books and keeps taking KAE's slippers and
stashing them in her crate.
As soon a I figure out how to transfer the pictures from the camera, I'll
send some on. I have managed to add a couple lbs to her. She looks good.
I continue to enjoy your web site. Thanks for all the updates.
Take care -
Barbara

I thought you
might like to know about Quickie's first afternoon/evening at home. She
stood up half the trip home and stood and laid the other half. It rained
the entire trip; but we missed the tornados and severe storms that were
going on. When she got in the house; she went to every room and sniffed
everything in each one at least two or three times. I showed her the
unopened bag of food. She seemed awfully interested so I opened it and
gave her a piece. She gobbled it up. I then gave her a cup to see if she
would eat it. She did so I gave her another. Later in the afternoon I
gave her some more and she ate a cup and a half. She started carrying off
pieces to another room. So I guess she's full. This evening she's been
content to sack out on her comforter. She gets scared real easy. When I
turned the TV on she just froze. I think after she get used to things
she'll be fine.

Hi Kimberly,
Keith and I just wanted to let you know that Roxie is doing great. We made
it home with no problems (no accidents...YEAH!!!). She's seen the house,
the cat (no problems yet from either side), and now she's sacked out in her
crate. The worst of the storm passed over about 2 hours ago -- hope y'all
didn't get it too bad -- and Roxie didn't show any signs of fear or anxiety
about the wind, thunder, lightning, rain, and whatever else there was.
Thanks so much for finding the perfect dog for us! We love her already, and
we look forward to lots of fun. We hope to be able to make it out for your
grand opening, and we will certainly stay in touch.
Have a great weekend, and hope the rest of the adoptions go smoothly!

| Dear Kim, It's a cold
snowy day here with Jackie curled up on the living room sofa sound asleep. I
know - we shouldn't let her on the sofa, but it's just the two of us and we
really don't mind. She sleeps with us too. I hope that's okay!! :) We enjoy
her so much and we'll always be grateful for what you sacrifice for
greyhounds.
Warmly, Connie, Jeff & Jackie
PS. Her tricks - she sits, shakes, lays down, stays, and
goes in her crate. We have fun. And no more accidents. Yea!!

Hi George and Kimberly, Just wanted to
let you know that Toodles, Scott, and I made it home without a bit of
problems except for some ear licking from the back seat. Toodles has
done great with me, James, cats, and kids. Pottied outside every time
except for one accident in den, which I think is great. She ate a great
supper, and is doing well with the stairs too. The cats haven't come out
of hiding yet, so I've moved their food upstairs. Toodles sampled that
too. She doesn't like to go in her kennel tho. I've put blankie in there
along with some toys and when i do get her in there i give her a
treat....any suggestions? I just want the 2 of you to know that I think
you are great people for helping these dogs find loving homes, I just hope
I can live up to your standards and give her all the love she deserves.
Thank-you so much from the bottom of all our hearts. Kim, James, Cory, and
Kaiti,! and....TOODLES woof woof!!

Kimberly,
Hope everything is going well at Project Racing Home.
Wanted to update you on Jingles.
She is doing great:). She is loved by all. I think my
house guests that come over actually come over to see
Jing too. When my parents came over they say how is my
girl....and they are not referring to me. Over x-mas
my Dad was found napping in Jings papasan cushion with
her. And boy oh boy did she make out good on x-mas
with all the gifts from relatives.
Every Sunday Jing goes to playgroup and runs around
with her new friends. Other than that you can always
find her on the coach....her new bed!!!
Thank you for leading me to Jing....she has brought a
lot of love into my life.

This dog
is truly amazing! Nimrod/Assassin has joined our family as easily as any
thing I've ever seen! He's such a gentleman and we are crazy about him!
He's already learned how to climb our steps; learned that cats scratch noses
so don't get too close; learned that his new bed is his family's bedroom and
that he has a lot more room in this new situation but really is content to
just stay close.
Thanks you again, Kimberly, for your help and thanks to PRH for seeing that
these lovely dogs find a loving family.

Kimberly, It has been six months since Sandy
came to live with us. She is such a wonderful dog. She has a great
disposition, and is great with kids (she loves the attention). She is very
compatible with our Min-Pin, Rudy too. She enjoys to go to large fenced
areas where she can show off her speed. We enclosed a few pictures from
our recent trip to the beach.

Talked
with George Sunday asking him for some papers. He said that you like to
wait, making sure that everyone is compatible. Jenn I think is happy in her
new surroundings. We go for walks 2-3 times a day, she has found the futon
to her liking, been to the vet, & met the cats & dogs around. She has voiced
her opinion with her inside & me outside. When she gets into her crate, when
I take Evelyn to work, she happy to see us when we return. She has opened
up, her tail comes up, & is into resting. She has adjusted to being feed
twice a day, likes the yogurt when she gets it. The only thing is,
sometimes her nose has a little run to it. Working on training her to get up
the 6 steps to deck, has no trouble going down, just doesn't want to go up.
Thinking about training her to go to bathroom on the dandelions now too.
Thank You again...

Dear Kimberly,
I just thought you would like to know how well
Sophie (Lucky, Watch my Luck) is doing. She has been a wonderful dog,
seems to be totally toilet trained - at least we haven't had any accidents
for about 3 weeks. She is one social butterfly and has been wonderful
with Bob's grandchildren and the child next door. We are thoroughly
enjoying her. Bob has even started running a bit with her.
We have taken her to a fenced in area that is
a bit muddy because of ALL of the rain we continuously have. That means
every 3 or 4 days when we take her we have to give her a bath with warm
water outside. It is an absolutely glorious sight to see that girl run!
She really puts her heart out for a few minutes and then she's had it and
is perfectly happy to get a bath and rest for the remainder of the day.
She has been so good on a leash and is learning the word "heel". She is a
pleasure to take on a walk even though there are other dogs, cats, birds
and squirrels in the neighborhood.
Bob and I like to garden and so far have had
to keep her on the screened in porch out back because I'm wondering about
how to have her with us when we are outside. I've tried to attach the 6'
leash to my belt but she and I become all tangled up and I feel like we
are doing the Curley and Moe routine! Since she is a low prey dog, what
do you think of us buying a GREYHOUND harness and attaching a 10' line to
that? That way in case she would lunge it wouldn't hurt her throat. She
has not lunged at anything for the last several weeks. Only in the
beginning. I am so glad we adopted her!!
Sincerely,
Bonnie Venable

Yes, that IS the remote control you see next to Mr Obelix!!
Now this is a true couch spud!! Since he is in Germany...he can be our
Frankfurter Spud!!
We can't wait for your return Karen!! |
Here ya go Kim, a picture of Obelix to post on your
letters section. I know he didn't come from you, but we are your
farthest away greyt family. He is an absolute dream. He knows when I
am upset and just comes and rests his head on my lap as if to say "
It's ok Momma, I'm here now" I've told him all about his sister
Sophie ( Beagle) that has been gone a year today *sniff** He just
loved me till I was finished crying. These are greyt animals! When
we come back stateside for good, I will be adopting from your kennel!!

Where do I start....oh, I know....George (my
George) is totally wrapped!!!!!! Not being an animal lover he has accepted
my love for all four legged friends but this one has stolen his heart.
Kiowa has picked us as her people and we love it.
She is definitely George's dog when it comes
to walking in the rain until the back yard is fenced and he does the feeding
so she really is attached to him. I also make him do the dirty work when
she had to be put into the crate.
She is so great and we appreciate her letting us live with
her. She has fallen into the 'home' scene like she was born here. I even
have to ask her to move when I run the vacuum cleaner. The only thing she
is not sure of yet is my horse and she butted him in the nose with her long
nose yesterday so that impression was not well received by the larger
occupant of the place. We are still working on that relationship. However,
the good news is that she is just great with my 15 year old doxie,
Schatz...who cannot see or hear and believes we have planted tall slender
trees all over the house. I just want to thank you for offering us the
opportunity to adopt our grey and you couldn't have been more accurate when
you said 'She is for you." Thank you for all your help and we look forward
to may years of fun with Kiowa Wolf Wow Wood...but you can still call her
Wow Wow.
